About the artist
Sjeli Pearse is a visual artist based in Ontario whose work explores themes of duality, morality, and the complexities of the human experience. A multidisciplinary artist working across acrylic abstraction and representational oil painting, her work examines the tension between collective experience, morality, and individual responsibility.
Pearse often draws on references from pop culture, religion, and political controversy, using dramatic colour combinations, layered textures, and expressive compositions to create emotionally charged imagery. Through these visual contrasts, her work invites viewers to reflect on their humanity; the complexity of their emotions and the beliefs that shape our actions and carry us through trying times.
Her paintings reflect a reverent love of colour and ultimately ask a central question: how does one hold intense beauty and the weight of devastation all at the same time?
In addition to her studio practice, Pearse has completed commission work for local businesses, including branding and mural work. She has also worked in close collaboration with several Canadian musicians in creating album art.
Her work has been exhibited across Ontario and is currently held in private collections.
